The Centre organised a variety of cultural programmes in collaboration with other institutions and organisations. The programmes
organised during the year 2011-2012 comprised the following performances :
Bengali Play, Kach-o-Debjani.
Sattriya Dance choreographed by Ranjumoni Saikia.
Ballet Opera, choreographed by Bimba Vati Devi, Bengali Play, Kinu Kaharer Theatre directed by Toarapada Mukhopadhyay.
Divya Namaskar, Odissi Dance presented by Kiran Sehgal.
Cultural Events
CCRT Cultural Centre
On the occasion of inauguration of CCRT Cultural Centre on May 29, 2011,
there was a performance “Celebrating the Cultural Diversity of India” by
Dr. Madan Gopal Singh, India’s leading Sufi lyricist, composer and singer.
Centre of North Eastern Culture
The Centre of North Eastern Culture was inaugurated jointly by Hon’ble Minister, Kumari Selja, Ministry of Culture and Hon’ble
Minister, Paban Singh Ghatowar, Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region on January 25, 2012 at CCRT headquarters,
New Delhi. An exhibition to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the Mizo Peace Accord and a Craft exhibition was organized
from January 25 to 28, 2012 marking the setting up of the Centre of North Eastern Culture.
Smt. Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay Memorial Lecture
The CCRT organised IIIrd Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay Memorial Lecture to commemorate the memory of Smt. Kamaladevi
Chattopadhyay on March 10, 2012. Prof. B.N. Goswamy, eminent art historian delivered the IIIrd Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay
Memorial Lecture on “ Education and Arts” prior to which he released a booklet on “ Handicrafts and Education” based on IInd
Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay Memorial Lecture delivered by Prof. Krishna Kumar, ex-director
of NCERT.
Virasat – Kamaladevi
To further celebrate the legacy of Kamaladeviji, the CCRT organised a cultural festival,
Virasat - Kamaladevi , at its headquarters in Dwarka, New Delhi.
Virasat - Kamaladevi included:
- Scintillating evening with Langas-Maanganiyars-Folk Music rendered by Shri Gazi
Khan, Shri Lakha Khan and others on March 10, 2012 in CCRT auditorium.
- “The Prophet and the Poet” a play developed at the Academy of Theatre Arts,
Bengaluru, Karnataka on March11, 2012. It was based on the exchange of letters
and articles between Mahatma Gandhi and Guru Rabindranath Tagore over a period
of 25 years, with the Indian freedom struggle as the backdrop.
- A crafts mela, Basant Bazaar, organised by CCRT and Dastkar from March 10 to 18, 2012 in the CCRT grounds.
- Sham-e-Ghazal featuring a rendition of soul stirring music by Dr. Prem Bhandari on March 11, 2012 in CCRT auditorium.
