Centre for Cultural Resources & Training (CCRT) is organizing a two (02) days’ workshop on ‘Collecting Stories under Digital District Repository (DDR) Project’ in collaboration with Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences, (Deemed to be University), Bhubaneswar, Odisha on January 5-6, 2023 and at KISS Campus, Bhubaneswar.
The Digital District Repository (DDR) project is an attempt to discover and document stories of people, events, and places linked to the freedom struggle of India at the micro level of the districts. Stories under this project can be broadly classified under – People & Personalities, Events & Happenings, Hidden treasures – Built & Natural Heritage, and Living Traditions & Art Forms. CCRT has been assigned the project DDR under ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ (AKAM) by Ministry of Culture (MoC) under which approximately 5000 stories/snippets are required to be documented under four different heads, respectively.
To meet the desired target, the two days’ collaborative workshop is engaging an audience of teachers, teacher educators, scholars, fellows, KISS Lecturers, faculty members of other local Universities & students, Authors, poets who have been jointly invited by CCRT and KISS. The venue of the workshop is Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences, Campus – 3, Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
The aim and objectives of this workshop is to discuss the methodology for documenting the stories under DDR Project in different categories and to identify the districts and to prioritize them for documentation under DDR Project.
The workshop began with lighting of the lamp followed by welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) Deepak Kumar Behera, Vice-chancellor KISS DU, where he formally greeted the dignitaries and participants on behalf of this historic occasion where CCRT & KISS-DU has come together in many ways for joint initiative on DDR projects and other initiatives of Ministry of Culture.
Shri S. C. Barmma, Advisor – Ministry of Culture took an extensive session on the subject narrating with special reference to Unsung heroes and freedom fighters of Odisha.
Shri Rishi Vashist, Director, CCRT has also addressed the participants and informed about the motive of the workshop. He began his address referring to this event as ‘ tridhara’ symbolising the confluence of three institutions i.e. KISS -DU, KIIT and CCRT. He also motivated the participants to document their local culture and history as it is a national duty.
The last session was taken by Prof. Upendra Padhi, Director, Institue of Media Studies, Utkal University, in which he explained how to collect stories of unsung heroes of Odisha state.
Prof. Jnyan Ranjan Mohanty, Registrar, KIIT DU, Dr. Prashanta Kumar Routray, Registrar, KISS DU, Dr. Rahul Kumar, Deputy Director & I/c AKAM, CCRT, Shri Rajesh Bhatnagar, Deputy Director (Finance), CCRT and Shri Dev Avinash Taneja, Programme Executive, CCRT and Ms. Aparupa Patnaik, Faculty & Content Writer, Centre for American Studies, KISS-DU were also present during the 1st day of above said workshop.
The Lalit Kala Akademi (Regional Center) Bhubaneswar has also put up an Exhibition on Freedom Fighters of Odisha during the workshop at the venue.
