Cultural Talent Search Scholarship Scheme (10-14 years)

The Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT) is implementing Cultural Talent Search Scholarship Scheme (CTSSS) since 1982 at National level. The Scheme is aimed at providing facilities to outstanding talented children selected in the age group of 10 to 14 years studying either in recognised schools or belonging to families practising traditional performing arts for getting specialised training in various cultural fields such as traditional forms of music, dance, drama as well as painting, sculpture, crafts and literary activities. The value of scholarship is ₹ 3600/- per year for the scholarship holder, in addition to reimbursement of the actual tuition fee paid to the Guru/Teacher, up to a ceiling of ₹ 9000/- per year.

650 new scholarships are awarded every year, of which 100 are reserved for Tribal Culture (ST candidates), 125 for the children of families practising traditional arts, 20 for Divyang (Differently Abled) children and 30 scholarships are reserved for the students applying in the field of Creative Writing/Literary Arts. The remaining 375 scholarships will be treated as general scholarships.

Applications are invited in prescribed proforma by post through Advertisement in Employment news as well as leading newspapers of the States/UT’s in English, Hindi and Vernacular languages and the information of the same along with the application form are uploaded on CCRT’s as well MOC’s website i.e. www.ccrtindia.gov.in & www.indiaculture.nic.in.

CRITERIA OF SELECTION

 

1. Central Selection Committee (CSC) Meeting

For the short listing of candidates to be called for Interview/Test, the CCRT constitute a Central Selection Committee, whose decision shall be final. Only the shortlisted candidates will be informed by post about the dates, timings and venue of the Interviews/Tests which may be conducted at Regional level during the months of May-August of every year.

2. Regional Selection Committee Meeting (RSC)


For organizing on the spot  interviews/tests  at regional level , Regional Selection Committee (RSC) is constituted by the CCRT and RSC meetings are held at about 20 different venues covering all the States/UTs  for recommending the children for award of new scholarships and also for the extension of old scholarships.


Scheme for “Award of Scholarships to Young Artistes (SYA) in Different Cultural Fields”(18-25 Years):

The Scheme for “Award of Scholarships to Young Artistes (SYA) in Different    Cultural Fields” has also been transferred to CCRT partially in the year 2014 under which 400 scholarships are provided in the age group of 18 to 25 years in the field of Indian Classical Music, Classical Dances, Light Classical Music, Theatre, Visual Arts and Folk/ Traditional and Indigenous Arts. Each scholar is paid Rs.5000/- (Rs. Five thousand only)  per month  for a period of two years to cover his/her living  expenses  on travelling, books, art material or other equipment and tuition or training charges etc.

Advertisement is given in Employment news as well as leading newspapers of the States/UT’s in English, Hindi and Vernacular languages for the SYA Scheme as per the instructions of S&F section, MoC.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates should be Indian Nationals.
  • Candidates should have an adequate general education to pursue their training effectively.
  • Candidates must give evidence of their desire to make the pursuit of their training effectively.
  • As the scholarships are meant for advanced training and not for beginners, candidates must have already acquired a degree of proficiency in the chosen field.
  • The candidate should have undergone a minimum of 5 years training with their Guru/Institutes. The Certificate to this effect in Part II of the Proforma duly signed by the present Guru / Institute and former Guru/ Institute (if any) should be submitted along with the application.
  • Candidates should have an adequate knowledge in the connected arts/ disciplines.
  • The candidate's age should not be less than 18 years and not more than 25 years as on 1st April of the year in which the application is being made. Age relaxation is not permissible.

Procedure of Selection

1. Applications for Scheme for “Award of Scholarships to Young Artistes (SYA) in Different    Cultural Fields”   are invited through advertisement. Applicants are required to submit online applications on the given link of CSMS portal (www.csms.nic.in) which is made available on the website of the Ministry of Culture  i.e. www.indiaculture.nic.in  & CCRT i.e. www.ccrtindia.gov.in

2. The shortlisted applicants after the process of scrutiny which are done through the software made available by NIC on CSMS portal, are called for Interview/Test before the Expert Committee constituted by the Ministry of Culture.

3. The list of recommended candidates are sent to the Ministry of Culture for approval and after approval, the selected candidates are informed about the selection by sending an Award letter by post as well as by emails and list of selected candidates is also uploaded on CCRT’s website and Ministry of Culture respectively.
