Initiatives in the North-Eastern States

From ancient times, India’s North-East has been the meeting place of many communities, faith and cultures. In order to build up
a pervasive conciousness of the rich natural and cultural heritage of North-East region, including Sikkim through the utilization
of students in the conservation of our heritage, the CCRT organized Workshops in different North-Eastern States. The primary,
middle, secondary and senior secondary school teachers from all parts of the country were introduced to innovative methods in
classroom teaching using specific art forms and traditional crafts of this region.

Cultural Exchange Programme
Under the Cultural Exchange Programme with the countries that have an item of exchange with CCRT, the CCRT receives
scholars, artists and other guests for exchanging views, dialogues and to express their views on educational dimensions
of culture. This is an ongoing process and few important CEPs under consideration are with Poland, Bulgaria, Hungary,
Portugal, Netherland, Russia, Turkey, France, South Korea, Belarus, BRICS States, Australia, Guyana, Italy, Ukraine, Myanmar
and Egypt.
Cultural Mapping of India
The Ministry of Culture, Government of India has initiated an ambitious Pilot Project to carry out survey on cultural
topography of the country. CCRT’s role in this Project is to collate and utilize the existing data of artists of various genres
and the NGOs engaged in propagation of cultural manifestation available with Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural
Heritage, Sangeet Natak Akademi, National School of Drama, Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts, Lalit Kala Akademi,
Zonal Cultural Centres, Anthropological Survey of India and other organizations under Ministry of Culture.
During the year 2017-18 source data of Artists profiles has been collected through CCRT in-service teachers, Teacher
Educators and Administrators from across India as well as other NGO's and also including cultural awareness programmes
out of the data collected in 5 Blocks on Pilot basis in CMI Project. Excel entry of approx. 21,000 artists is ready at the back
end of CCRT for uploading on the portal.
