AnnuAl RepoRt 2017-18 Scheme of “Award of Scholarships to Young Artistes (SYA) in Different Cultural
Fields”
The Scheme for “Award of Scholarships to Young Artistes (SYA) in Different Cultural Fields” has also been transferred to
CCRT partially under which 400 scholarships are provided in the age group of 18 to 25 years in the field of Indian Classical
Music, Classical Dances, Light Classical Music, Theatre, Visual Arts and Folk/ Traditional and Indigenous Arts. Each scholar is
paid ` 5000/- (` Five thousand only) per month for a period of two years to cover his/her living expenses on travelling,
books, art material or other equipment and tuition or training charges etc. 5110 applications were received online for the year
2016-17 & 2017-18. The interviews/tests for the award of Scholarships to Young Artistes for the years 2016-17 & 2017-18 were
successfully conducted in the month of March, 2018. 1666 applicants for the year 2016-17 appeared in the Interviews/Test and
310 got selected for award of scholarships. 3444 applicants for the year 2017-18 appeared in the Interviews/Tests and 317 got
selected for the award of scholarships.
Fellowship Scheme for the “Award of Fellowship to Outstanding Persons in the
Field of Culture"
The CCRT is implementing the scheme titled "The Fellowship Scheme for the Award of Fellowship to outstanding persons in the
Field of Culture". Under this Scheme 200 each of the Junior and Senior Fellows are selected. Awardees are paid grant money @
Rs. 10,000/- and Rs. 20,000/- per month respectively for a period of two years. The focus of this scheme is on "in-depth study/
research" in various facets of culture. These include new emerging areas of Cultural Studies.
For the year 2016-17, 178 candidates were selected for Junior Fellows and 133 candidates were selected for Senior Fellows.
Similarly, for the year 2017-18, 192 candidates were selected for Junior Fellows and 176 candidates were selected for Senior
Fellows.
Encouraging cultural identities
Workshop on “Enhancing the Teaching Skills & Syllabus Development of
Creative Writing/Literary Arts”
A Workshop titled “Enhancing the Teaching Skills & Syllabus Development of Creative Writing/Literary Arts” at CCRT Campus,
New Delhi was conducted from March 19 to 23, 2018 in which 35 participants including Gurus & teachers as well as their
respective CCRT Scholarship holders getting specialized training in the field of Creative Writing/Literary Arts from all over India
participated.
Several practical sessions involving the participants in variety of Creative activities, educational tour to Centres of Learning
such as Children Book Trust (CBT), National Bal Bhawan (NBB) & National School of Drama (NSD), presenting & sharing
creative work amongst others etc. were highlights of the Workshops.
Basic guidelines to develop the syllabus based on their regional language chosen and incorporating the local, cultural,
historical, geographical, linguistic features etc. were also provided.
