ANNUAL REPORT 2016-17 Scheme of “Award of Scholarships to Young Artistes (SYA) in Different Cultural
Fields”
The Scheme for “Award of Scholarships to Young Artistes (SYA) in Different Cultural Fields” is implemented under which
maximum 400 scholarships are provided in the age group of 18 to 25 years in the field of Indian Classical Music, Classical
Dances, Light Classical Music, Theatre, Visual Arts, Folk/ Traditional and Indigenous Arts. Each scholar is paid Rs. 5000/- per
month for a period of two years to cover his/her living expenses on travelling, books, art material or other equipment and
tuition or training charges etc. 2170 applications were received online for the year 2015-16. The interviews/tests for the award
of Scholarships to Young Artistes for the year 2015-16 were successfully conducted in the month of January-February, 2017 at
CCRT, New Delhi. 1235 applicants appeared in the Interviews/Tests and 283 of them, have been awarded scholarships on the
basis of recommendations by Expert Member Committees, constituted by Ministry of Culture.
Fellowship Scheme for the “Award of Fellowship to outstanding persons in the
Field of Culture”.
The CCRT is implementing the scheme titled “The Fellowship Scheme for the Award of Fellowship to outstanding persons in the
Field of Culture”. Under this Scheme 200 each of the Junior and Senior Fellows are selected. Awardees are paid grant money @
`10000/- and ` 20000/- per month respectively for a period of two years. The focus is on “in-depth study/research” in various
facets of culture. These include new emerging areas of Cultural Studies. 389 candidates were selected for Junior Fellowship and
278 candidates were selected for Senior Fellowship for the year 2014-15 and 2015-16.
