Library and information services are fundamental to the goals of creating, disseminating, optimally utilizing and processing knowledge. These services are instrumental in transforming an unequal society into an egalitarian, progressive knowledge society.
Since special libraries play a pivotal role in dissemination of knowledge and are an extremely important element of the foundation of a knowledge economy, a couple of initiatives in this regard are in the pipeline to be introduced in CCRT’s library.
The Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT) has a small but specialized collection of books on culture, Art, Architecture, Dance, Drama, Music, History, Sculpture, Biographies etc. The Library came into existence along with the CCRT in 1979 at Bahawalpur house. It now houses more than 13,000 books, and 200 CDs/DVDs on various facets of Indian Culture. It has a reference collection having books on Religion, Culture, Art and Education.
The library facilitated the study of daily newspapers in Hindi and English language and a total of 36 leading magazines of weekly, fortnightly, bi-monthly, quarterly, half-yearly and yearly period and a total of 25 leading national newspapers in Hindi, English and other Indian languages also.
The books in the Library are classified according to the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) 22nd edition scheme and catalogued online into machine-readable from with all bibliographic details. The Library is a member of DELNET (Developing Library Network) which has more than one million records of books available in machine readable from. The library is automated in order to provide efficient reference service to its members.

Library Membership
CCRT staff and participant teachers of various training programmes are the main users of the library. The library is allowed to be referred by bonafide research scholars, university students, academicians, fellowship holders and artists.

Facilities
Photocopying facilities are available on payment. The members can also avail themselves of the limited inter-library loan facilities. The Library also provides Internet facility and OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) for searching books and periodicals.

The Library is open from 9.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. (except Saturday, Sunday & Gazetted holidays)
The library is open from 9.00 a.m. to 7.30 p.m. during training programmes (except Sunday & Gazetted holidays and occasionally on Saturdays)
