Theatre Arts in Education

The Centre for Cultural Resources and Training organizing a workshop on “Theatre Arts in Education” in collaboration with Natyashala Charity Trust Mumbai, for teachers working with hearing and speech – impaired students. The theme of the workshop is developing learning strategies through drama among such children. This workshop urges teachers to use theatre and participatory drama methodology to teach areas of the curriculum, social issues, life themes and have effective impact on changes of attitudes and practices, specifically on children & youth.

This Workshop can help child towards personal growth, social education, sensitivity & listening skills, language skills – speech, thinking, reading, writing etc.

Objectives of the Workshop

  • To help teachers to incorporate some elements of theatre in class-room teaching.
  • To develop some simple activities for teachers working in ‘specially-able’ schools for making class- room teaching successful.
  • To assist teachers of special schools to be integrated in normal schools.

The workshop consists of lecture-demonstration on Children’s Theatre, Creative Dramatics, Rhythmic Movements, Theatre Games, Rhythm Speech, Mudrabhinaya, Storytelling, Educational Drama, Costumes and Accessories. It also has sessions on mime, theatre games, characterization, mask making & stage craft.
